Meet Andoto – a modern video host made to help your business grow
Written by Dave Kiss
I’m building a video host for businesses. It’s 2019. Am I crazy?
Maybe. But, all of the tools out there just aren’t doing it for me.
YouTube is the obvious giant, and impossible to ignore if you care about your videos being found. It’s free to upload –– but that comes at its own price.
- Uncontrollable ads
- No customizable branding
- Not a professional feel (do you want your business videos sitting next to the video game review your nephew uploaded?)
Vimeo is another common recommendation, and one that I’m intimately familiar with. After all, I’ve been working with their platform nearly every week for the last eight years. It’s affordable and generally has a good reputation.
I’ve been a fan for quite some time, but Vimeo’s got a bit of an identity issue.
They’ve changed CEO’s, pivoted the company, focused on social and community, entered the stock footage market, introduced and removed features, experienced high staff turnover, and generally made me feel a bit uneasy about the direction of the company.
The cool kid on the block is Wistia –– and honestly, they’ve got a lot of good things going on over there. It’s a clean tool that has dialed in on helping businesses market their videos, and have recently introduced a channels feature that ticks a lot of boxes of what I think businesses are looking for.
The thing that doesn’t really sit right with me is their pricing model.
They’ll charge you close to $1,000 a year for 10 videos on their account – not to mention the extra costs for capped bandwidth.
The Turnstile feature is a welcomed addition –– it allows you to collect email addresses prior to playing a video. Unfortunately, it can’t be customized unless you sign up and pay for a third party form integration.
Oh yeah – and, if you want to display your video collection on your own site, that’s gonna move you up to the “call us for information” plan, which is rumored to start at $300 a month.
Woof. Something’s gotta change.
There are a few others that come to mind, but none of them are doing a great job providing businesses with a modern video collection that can grow sales, provide a fantastic viewing experience, and generate more leads for your business.
I’ve been studying and building video collections for 8 years now – that’s over 6,000 customer support tickets, countless membership sites, client reels, training video galleries and more. Let’s just say I’ve learned a thing or two in that time!
It’s time to take everything that I’ve learned over the years and build the tool that I’ve always wanted to exist (and hopefully you’ll like it, too.)
Andoto will provide what I think is the best way to display an immersive video collection on your website with simple copy and paste.
Design your viewer’s journey, beat by beat
We often want to lead those viewing our videos on a path towards a specific end goal; whether that’s ultimately for them to become a client, purchase a product, book a call, close a deal, or learn a new skill.
Andoto helps you tailor your video playback experience, keeping your viewers engaged and allow you to accomplish more of your business objectives.
Actions before, during, and after video playback
Not every business and video collection is the same. That’s why Andoto allows you to customize the playback experience of your videos by controlling what happens when your viewers watch your videos.
Maybe you’d like a real-time notification in your Slack channel when a viewer begins watching a specific video. Or, you’d like your viewers to sign up for your newsletter before they get access to your entire video collection. Actions give you the flexibility to design and build the perfect experience for your audience.
Works with any website
Upload your videos to Andoto (or, you can easily import your videos from Vimeo or Wistia) and your video collection can be automatically updated and displayed on any site you have, whether it’s running on WordPress, Shopify, Wix, or a custom site built for your business, using a simple embed code.
